Opportunity:

An established multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in environment-led planning and design is seeking an experienced Senior Arboriculture Consultant to join their Arboriculture team in York. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, primarily in the renewable energy and residential sectors, and is ideal for professionals passionate about arboriculture and environmental consultancy.

Responsibility:

  • Arboricultural Surveys & Reporting: Co-ordinate and undertake arboricultural surveys and prepare reports and plans in line with BS5837:2012 guidance, covering pre-planning feasibility studies to construction stage support.
  • Project Management: Manage project budgets, timescales, and delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes aligned with best practices and relevant British Standards.
  • Technical Advisory: Act as a technical specialist to support clients and internal teams with pragmatic solutions to complex arboricultural issues.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and build strong working relationships with existing and new clients, contractors, statutory agents, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Business Development: Assist with the development of new arboricultural specialisms for the company.

Requirements:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years professional experience in a similar advisory role, with a proven track record of successful project management and delivery.
  • Qualifications: Arboricultural Qualification to Level 4 or higher with demonstrable professional experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in tree surveying to BS5837:2012 and tree risk assessment with the use of relevant software; e.g., Axiscape/ArborCAD, AutoCAD, QGIS, ESRI GIS mapping, etc.
  • Knowledge: Sound knowledge of tree species identification, morphology, management, planning, legislation, and best practices.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce concise reports to high standards.
  • Additional Requirements: Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites and work autonomously in varied weather conditions.

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
