Our client is seeking an experienced Engineer or Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join their Water & Infrastructure team in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of flood protection and sustainable drainage solutions across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects throughout the UK.

The team specialises in flood risk advice, hydraulic modelling, SuDS, sewerage, and flood mitigation design for residential, retail, industrial, commercial, and public sector developments.

The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day project management of a small team of hydraulic modellers (TUFLOW and InfoWorks ICM). The role includes leading conceptual and detailed design of flood protection works and drainage strategies to support planning applications and construction delivery.

You will manage multiple projects and client accounts, mentor junior engineers and modellers, prepare and review fee proposals, and provide technical verification of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead river modelling and hydrological analysis to inform flood mitigation design
  • Develop drainage strategies and surface water management solutions for new developments
  • Produce and review Flood Risk Assessments
  • Manage projects from concept through detailed design and construction stages
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Engage directly with clients and stakeholders
  • Support commercial management and project delivery

About You

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Proven experience in flood mitigation design and hydraulic modelling
  • Solid understanding of current policy and legislation (e.g., NPPF, FWMA 2010, WIA 1991)
  • Experience preparing drainage strategies and S104 agreements

Technical Skills (Essential)

  • Flood Modeller/TUFLOW
  • InfoWorks ICM
  • GIS platforms (MAP-Info and/or QGIS)

Experience with WinDES, InfoDrain, or FLOW sewer design software and application of Design & Construction Guidance would be advantageous.
