Why Work at Mattinson Partnership?

Over the course of 2021, recruitment has had a rapid comeback from the pandemic. Companies large and small are well and truly back on track to start, or complete, projects that the lockdowns of 2020 paused. Right across the natural and built environment we’ve seen a significant increase in new positions, from architects to surveyors and from carbon consultants to health and safety managers. To help support our clients’ continued growth plans, we’re hiring for two Environmental Recruitment Consultants who are as passionate about working with people and the environment as we are.

Who is Mattinson Partnership?

Mattinson Partnership was founded in 2004, with a focus on recruiting transport and environmental positions. Since then, we’ve expanded into town planning, civil engineering, sustainability, renewable energy, health & safety, public realm, property and surveying. In 2012, we established our sister company, MP Smarter Travel, a sustainable transport consultancy working with local authorities and businesses across London and the south-east to help make our towns and cities cleaner and healthier.

Why join us?

Unlike many other recruitment agencies where trainee recruitment consultants are held back from working with clients, we give new recruitment consultants the opportunity to work and build their own list of clients whilst being supported with a tailored, ongoing training programme. On top of that, we offer a generous starting salary with an uncapped commission scheme. We are looking to further expand the team in 2022 and listed below are a few comments from some of our newest consultants and how they’ve found their time at Mattinson Partnership.

Luke Marron, Recruitment Consultant, Architectural Design

One thing I like most about working here is the people. We’re a fun and dynamic team. We don’t just work together, we celebrate together too. For example, at the end of Q2 we had a team dinner at the Duck & Waffle as a reward for hitting our targets.

I’ve found that working in a smaller company we’re able to share our opinions. In a lot of larger companies, you can be just another cog in the machine, but at Mattinson Partnership, it’s an open environment to share ideas. I have a lot of autonomy to work on my own roles and I have the chance to work across multiple sectors, not just one. There’s a lot of support and opportunity to learn too. We have a lot of one-to-one training with experienced staff members and we have a trainer who comes in regularly to do classroom training sessions which are always engaging and enjoyable.

The world of recruitment is challenging but also very rewarding. We’re fortunate enough to work with a lot of good people, candidates and clients alike, and we’re able to have a huge impact matching clients and new talent.

Hope Heaney, Recruitment Consultant, Sustainability and Energy

Since joining Mattinson Partnership, I have been challenged and tested, but overall, it’s increased my drive, industry knowledge and enthusiasm for recruitment. It’s allowed me to excel in a novel environment and it’s refreshing working on new roles continually.

Although expanding, Mattinson Partnership is a small company meaning we work as a close-knit team. We work collectively, not in a competitive, hedonistic environment. That was really important to me when I was looking for a new role, and it makes coming into the office enjoyable, and we have a lot of entertaining socials!

Since joining, I’ve received continual training. This didn’t halt after I was promoted to consultant either. Consequently, I feel supported in my position and there is always someone to talk to when you’re unsure how to proceed in a situation. I’m still learning and can’t wait to see what lies ahead!

Tori Keene, Recruitment Consultant, Built Environment

Working for a smaller company is great because you’re given the opportunity to manage your own desk. I spend a lot of my time developing new business in order to grow my list of clients, which is a fantastic opportunity to get so soon after graduating. Working in recruitment has been a big learning curve, I’ve been pushed outside my comfort zone but it’s been fantastic for my personal and professional development.

The team at Mattinson is fantastic and everyone is willing to share their top tips and advice. The training we have in-house by Dom, our Director, is really thorough and flexible so it goes at a pace that works for everyone and is tailored to the areas we find challenging. We also have external training in our first six weeks that is really useful and a great way to go over the core foundations of recruitment with another expert. We also have regular visits from our recruitment trainer, who comes in to support us all with our work and help with the areas we find most challenging.

Carbon FootprintTM work in conjunction with the Florestal Santa Maria Project (FSM-Redd Project), designed to reduce deforestation in the Amazonian Rainforest. Carbon FootprintTM have allowed us to not only do our bit for the environment but also commemorate moments of growth for our clients and candidates.
