Senior BIM & Digital Design Support Specialist

Role Overview

An established architectural practice is seeking a Senior BIM & Digital Design Support Specialist to provide technical guidance and support to project teams across its studios.

This senior position combines hands-on technical expertise with a wider focus on improving digital processes, promoting best practice and ensuring consistent standards across a varied portfolio of architectural projects.

Working closely with senior digital delivery colleagues, you will help develop and implement digital standards, improve project workflows and support the continued development of BIM capabilities across the practice. You will act as a key point of contact for digital queries, helping project teams make effective use of technology and maintain high standards of project information.

The role is focused on enabling and supporting project teams through technical guidance, coordination and training, rather than undertaking a traditional project delivery role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support across Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), common data environments (CDEs), document management systems and associated digital platforms.
  • Lead digital coordination activities, including clash avoidance workshops, model performance reviews and the resolution of coordination issues with external consultants.
  • Promote compliance with BS EN ISO 19650 standards and ensure consistent application of BIM protocols and digital processes across projects.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, CPDs and workshops covering modelling techniques, project set-up and digital workflows.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of digital standards, templates, protocols and guidance documents.
  • Review project information to ensure it meets relevant quality, compliance and client requirements.
  • Provide practical guidance and mentoring to colleagues, helping to strengthen digital capabilities across the practice.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and improve information coordination.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for BIM and digital delivery queries across multiple studios, providing in-person support and travelling between offices when required.
  • Share lessons learnt and contribute to wider initiatives aimed at improving digital delivery and introducing more effective ways of working.

Candidate Profile

  • An architectural background, with a strong interest in using digital technology to improve project delivery.
  • Ideally 5-10+ years' experience in BIM, digital delivery or technical support roles within an architectural practice.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud and related digital platforms.
  • Strong understanding of BS EN ISO 19650 and experience applying its principles to live projects.
  • A relevant BIM qualification or certification would be advantageous.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to deliver training, lead workshops and engage effectively with consultants and project teams.
  • Experience supporting and developing colleagues with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with a strong focus on quality, consistency and compliance.
  • Able to combine strategic thinking and continuous improvement with practical, hands-on technical support.

What's on Offer

  • The opportunity to support a varied portfolio of high-profile architectural projects, including work involving historic and heritage-sensitive buildings.
  • A senior position with the opportunity to influence digital delivery standards, improve working practices and contribute to the development of BIM capabilities across the practice.
  • A collaborative working environment that encourages knowledge sharing, professional development and technical innovation.
  • Ongoing opportunities to develop expertise through training, CPDs, workshops and exposure to evolving digital technologies.
