Senior / Associate Building Surveyor

Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading multidisciplinary consultancy for a Senior or Associate Building Surveyor to join their growing Buildings & Project management team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of the UK's most prestigious and high-profile projects across a diverse range of sectors.

The successful candidate will work across sectors including retail, healthcare, energy, commercial property, education and the public sector, delivering refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects. The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Undertaking feasibility studies, preparing specifications, obtaining estimates and statutory approvals, and administering building contracts.
  • Working with standard forms of contract including JCT and NEC.
  • Providing a full range of professional Building Surveying services.
  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships.
  • Mentoring and developing junior Building Surveyors, including supporting APC candidates through the RICS process.
  • Supporting senior leadership with project delivery, business operations and team management.
  • Carrying out surveys, inspections, schedules of condition and a range of professional consultancy services.
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities, including preparing fee proposals and tender submissions.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with quality, health & safety and statutory compliance requirements.

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • A BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or another RICS-accredited degree.
  • MRICS Chartered status (or be working towards chartership if applying at Senior level).
  • Strong technical Building Surveying experience across a range of project and professional services.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering projects commercially.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
  • Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills, including feasibility studies, specifications and asset reviews.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Commercial awareness with an interest in business development and winning new work.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
