A leading UK-based independent environmental consultancy, specialising in environmental policy, strategy, design, and assessment is currently looking for an experienced Sustainability/Carbon Consultant to join their team.

Role Overview:
Assessing climate change impacts across sectors like renewable energy, transport, and industry. Work with developers, designers, and engineers to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, support net zero goals, and enhance climate resilience. Duties include developing GHG inventories, producing climate change assessments for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning, and advising on emission reduction. You'll also contribute to climate strategies, risk assessments, and provide evidence-based technical, scientific, and socioeconomic advice.

Candidate Profile:
Ideal candidates will have 5-8 years of experience, but exceptional junior candidates will be considered. The role requires both independent and team work, with a focus on project and staff management.

Key Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in developing whole life GHG footprints for planning and EIA.
- Experience in climate resilience and adaptation assessments.
- Ability to draft Environmental Statement chapters and technical appendices.
- Proven consultancy sector experience.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Strong technical and data interpretation skills.
- Strong understanding of UK and international climate legislation and policy.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations 2017 and national planning policies.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with recognized GHG emissions standards and guidance.
- Proficiency in Life Cycle Assessment tools.
- Knowledge of embodied carbon assessment.
- Experience in decarbonisation and net zero planning.
- Familiarity with climate projections and science-based targets.
- Sector-specific experience in aviation, rail, industry, or renewable energy.
- Understanding of carbon markets, offsetting, and renewable energy.
- Expertise in sustainable and low-carbon design.
- Knowledge of energy, sustainability, and ESG reporting.
- Published work in climate change.

Qualifications:
- MSc or higher in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Membership in relevant professional institutions.

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.



Carbon Footprint.

Carbon FootprintTM works to help organisations offset their CO2 through tree planting and community projects worldwide.
