Junior ESG/Sustainability Analyst - Investment Team

A leading Investment trust is currently looking for a Junior ESG/Sustainability Analyst who will support investment teams in incorporating material sustainability and governance factors into the investment process across asset classes. As part of a high-performing investment organization, this role contributes to research, portfolio analysis, and engagement efforts aimed at enhancing long-term investment performance. The position is primarily investment-oriented and focused on helping portfolio managers and analysts make better-informed decisions through a lens that includes relevant environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support portfolio managers and analysts by conducting fundamental research that integrates financially material ESG and sustainability risks and opportunities into investment theses

  • Contribute to investment team workflows, including security analysis, sector reviews, and portfolio monitoring, with a focus on how sustainability factors may influence risk-adjusted returns

  • Assist with modeling and analytics related to ESG-integrated valuation, risk frameworks, or scenario analysis for use in investment decision-making

  • Work with the investment risk and performance teams to assess ESG-related portfolio exposures and trends across strategies

  • Analyze third-party ESG and sustainability data in the context of financial relevance; help interpret key signals to support investment teams

  • Participate in engagement preparation, including supporting analysts and PMs in conversations with company management on issues that may affect long-term value

  • Collaborate with product, reporting, and client service teams to support client inquiries on how ESG factors are considered in the investment process

  • Contribute to internal research efforts aimed at identifying long-term investment themes or sector-specific risks related to sustainability trends

  • Assist in documentation and classification of investment products as needed for regulatory and market-aligned frameworks (e.g., SFDR, climate reporting), in coordination with legal and compliance

Candidate Profile:

  • Academic background in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline, with strong interest in investment management

  • 2+ years career experience in asset management, investment research, or capital markets preferred

  • Solid understanding of financial modeling, portfolio construction, and valuation methods; familiarity with integrating qualitative or non-financial inputs is a plus

  • Interest in how material sustainability and governance issues impact financial performance across sectors and geographies

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; proficiency in Excel required, experience with ESG data tools or platforms is a plus

  • Effective communicator, able to present findings clearly to investment professionals and stakeholders

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced investment environment

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
