With a strong reputation for delivering innovative, low-carbon solutions across the built environment, the business works on a diverse range of projects spanning commercial, residential, healthcare, education, science and technology sectors. Sustainability and building performance sit at the heart of its approach, with continued investment in developing industry-leading expertise across energy modelling, Net Zero Carbon and building optimisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2 years' experience to develop their technical skills, work on a variety of interesting projects and build their career within a highly respected sustainability consultancy.

The Opportunity

As an Energy Consultant, you'll support the delivery of building performance analysis and energy modelling across a range of development projects. Working alongside experienced sustainability consultants, engineers and design teams, you'll gain exposure to projects from the early design stages through to completion.

The role is particularly suited to someone with hands-on experience using IES VE who is looking to further develop their expertise across energy modelling, building performance and sustainable design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake energy modelling and building performance analysis using IES VE.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic thermal models to support design decisions.
  • Assist with overheating and thermal comfort assessments.
  • Support compliance modelling and regulatory assessments.
  • Analyse modelling results and help identify opportunities to improve building performance.
  • Assist with energy efficiency, low-carbon design and building optimisation strategies.
  • Work alongside architects, engineers and sustainability consultants throughout the design process.
  • Contribute to energy and sustainability assessments across a range of building types.
  • Prepare clear technical outputs and assist with presenting findings to project teams and clients.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge across building performance and energy modelling.

About You

The ideal candidate will have around 1-2 years' experience in energy modelling, building performance, sustainability consultancy or a related building services/engineering environment.

Hands-on IES VE experience is essential for this position. Candidates should be comfortable using the software for energy modelling and have a genuine interest in developing a career within building performance and sustainability.

Experience in some of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • IES VE / dynamic thermal modelling
  • Overheating and thermal comfort assessments
  • Building fabric performance and heat loss
  • Energy efficiency and low-carbon design
  • Compliance modelling and energy regulations
  • Passive design principles
  • Building services and energy optimisation

The role would suit someone who is technically minded, keen to learn and enjoys working as part of a wider project team.

Why Join?

  • Join a highly respected engineering and sustainability consultancy.
  • Work on diverse projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and other sectors.
  • Gain exposure to leading sustainability, building physics and engineering specialists.
  • Develop your expertise in energy modelling and building performance.
  • Strong opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Featuring workshops on demolition and tower building, as well as challenging the girls to design a planning project of their own (with a focus on budgeting and environmental considerations), LandSec have proven their dedication to addressing the need for diversity in this very male dominated industry. Ruth assists the project by sharing her fascinating insights into the industry and is even on the project judging panel!
