Opportunity:


An established environmental planning team is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner with 3-5 years' experience to join its growing UK-wide operations. The team provides environmental planning services across a variety of sectors, including property, infrastructure, waste, and energy. Key areas of focus include Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), site feasibility and masterplanning, and strategic environmental planning advice at all stages of the development lifecycle.

The role is flexible in terms of geographical location, with a preference for candidates based in London, Birmingham, or Manchester, although remote working arrangements will be considered. Travel to client meetings will be required as necessary. This position offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to projects of national significance while developing your career within a collaborative and professional team environment.

Responsibility:

  • Assist in the delivery of environmental planning projects, with a focus on EIA and planning-related services.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables are met on time and to budget.
  • Manage project finances, schedules, and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Prepare technical reports, including EIA Screening reports, Scoping reports, Environmental Statements (ESs), and related documentation.
  • Support business development and work-winning activities, contributing ideas and proposals.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, supporting and motivating colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Relevant University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in an environmental or related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ISEP/IEMA) and/or Chartered Environmentalist status.
  • Strong understanding of environmental disciplines and practical experience with the UK planning system.
  • Proven experience applying EIA Regulations at all stages of the assessment process.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing project stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, including oversight of deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience authoring EIA-related reports.
  • Proactive, innovative, and collaborative approach, with the ability to enhance outcomes for clients.

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
