A highly esteemed, global multidisciplinary consultancy are looking for a Senior/ Principal level ecologist to join their reputable team in Carlisle. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong ecologist who is looking to get involved in a variety of high profile and interesting project work. This role demands a balanced approach towards ecological risk management, benefitting both the needs of the client and nature conservation interests.

Role & Company:

You will be providing technical excellence and leadership to ensure high quality delivery of landscape assessment and design services for key clients such as the Environment Agency, HS2 and Local Authorities. The team works on a range of projects including river and coastal flooding, as well within water, rail, housing. You will be tasked with key project management responsibilities including pricing, programming, resource planning and financial control, as well as the technical management of the ecological surveys, report writing and report quality checking.

The post requires a responsibility to assist with the effective management of a variable portfolio of work and inputs from sub-consultants and other members of the wider project team. Qualifications / Experience:

  • Honours degree in ecology or biology or other relevant discipline or equivalent
  • Full membership of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management
  • Holds protected species handling and survey licences for European Protected species
  • An understanding of ecological risk management
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the of bidding and job winning process
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Full UK Driving license

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
