Opportunity:

Take this opportunity to join a major UK based Ecological Consultancy firm based in the East of England. As the new Senior Ecologist, you'll be working on some of the UKs most exciting Ecological projects alongside like-minded professionals looking to promote nature positive engagements. You'll be handling projects from their infancy through to completion, providing professional advice to stakeholders and solving complex issues, encouraging your own personal growth as an Ecologist whilst managing your own projects.

Responsibility:

As a Senior Ecologist, you will be trusted to effectively manage your own schedule. This will mean organising and carrying out a range of ecological surveys relevant to your selected project, ensuring all necessary actions are completed within the allotted time frame. You will be expected to undertake multiple survey and assessment techniques including PEAs, EcIAs, Protected Species Surveys etc. You will also need to be able to provide expert advice on a range of ecological matters such as mitigation issues (licenses and hierarchy) and BNG. You'll be acting as a guide and support the more junior members of the team, working with Principal Ecologists to better both your own and the team's professional development. Also, you'll be liaising with clients, developing relationships with longstanding businesses and providing them with high quality, ethical advice when called upon.

Requirements:

For success in this role, you will need to have experience working within an ecological setting, preferably within a consultancy and be a full member of CIEEM. You'll need to have a working understanding of a broad range of surveying and assessment methods/techniques as well as a strong knowledge of both UK taxa and Policy & Legislation. An understanding of protected species license processes is key and any owned protected species licenses (particularly Bat Level 1-2) are incredibly desirable. You will also need to have a full, clean UK driver's license and access to your own vehicle as travel will be necessary to undertake site investigations. This role is a hybrid role, there will be an expectation to attend the Office twice per week.
