Opportunity:

A highly respected Scotland-based client is seeking new, experienced talent to expand their Ecology team across their offices, with opportunities available to those based in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. This particular role is for a Senior Consultant Ecologist and will allow the perfect candidate to demonstrate and develop new and existing skills via specialist assignments that promise to keep work engaging and fulfilling. As a Senior Consultant Ecologist, you'll be joining a passionate and driven team of like-minded environmentalists, exposing you to different disciplines within the wider environmental field as well as working on projects across a range of sectors, presenting you with the chance to work directly with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibility:

As a Senior Ecologist, your responsibilities will be split between technical and client-facing duties. On the technical side, your responsibilities will include:

  • The planning and carrying out of various ecological surveys, both species and habitat.
  • Production of associated reports, such as PEA's, to a high standard.
  • Taking on ecological mitigation strategy design and providing expert advise on their delivery.
  • Management of small-medium scale projects and supporting on large-scale developments.

On the client-facing side of things, your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with regulators, planning authorities, relevant stakeholders, partners and sub-contractors.
  • Preparation of fee proposals and bid submissions.
  • Representing the company at relevant meetings, providing advice to non-professional clients and internal staff from different disciplines.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Senior Consultant Ecologist role, there is certain criteria that will need to be met. These are:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience within ecological consulting.
  • Minimum associate membership with CIEEM (full or chartered would be more desirable).
  • Experience with a range of surveys and reports including PEA's, HRA's, EcIA's.
  • Strong understanding of planning framework and legislation around Ecology in the UK.
  • Understanding of the Environmental market for when interacting with clients.
  • ECoW experience/working with contractors and providing adequate advice on on-site mitigation.
  • A valid CSCS card and a full UK drivers' license.

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
