Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Ecologist looking for a new role? Do you hold a Natural England level 2 or above Bat license? If so, this latest vacancy might be the one for you. Our client operates out of a beautiful location office in Exeter, Devon and is looking to bring on a new Senior Ecologist to assist their growing team. The client itself is a nationally recognised ecology consultancy that handle all aspects of ecological services with a particular specialisation around Bats. Their diverse client base has covered a range of projects spanning infrastructure, residential & commercial property, renewable energy, flood defence, coastal realignment and smaller scale developments such as barn conversions and extensions, allowing their team members to gain valuable experience across various areas of Ecology. You'll be coming into a company headed by a Chartered Environmentalist with 30+ years of experience that will both promote the growth of your own professional skillset through continued professional development and allow you to gain valuable line managing experience by assisting the principal consultants in mentoring the more junior members of the team.

Responsibility:

As the new Senior Ecologist, your responsibilities for this role will be primarily focussed on Bat-related projects within the company. You will be managing these projects, handling all aspects of the job from planning and carrying out surveys, producing the associated reports from the findings, licensing, mitigation, viewing briefings and monitoring. Alongside this, you'll also be expected to carry out UKHabs classification surveys and other protected species surveys, such as Dormouse, GCN and reptiles. There will be a mix of both office and site-based work, so you'll be travelling to sites either in your own or a company vehicle and you'll be expected to be able to manage your own diary and interact with other team members diary to facilitate your travel requirements.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Senior Ecologist role, you will need to have at least 4 years of experience within ecological consulting and possess at the very least a level 2 Bat license from Natural England. On top of that, you will need extensive experience producing a variety of reports and assessments as well as have experience with EPSL applications. Level 3 FISC is also a necessary trait alongside a CIEEM membership, a full UK drivers' license and access to your own vehicle should a company one not be available. As previously mentioned, you'll be on site at times and therefore need to be both willing to undertake night surveys during the Bat season (April-October) and physically fit enough to work on large outdoor sites.

Company Benefits:

Working for this company will mean access to continuous training, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, workplace pension scheme, relevant membership fees covered, mileage allowance for personal car use, company healthcare plan and an annual company bonus scheme.
