Are you an experienced Ecology Consultant looking to make the move into a Senior position? Or maybe already a Senior and looking for a new challenge? This new position could be what you were looking for. Our client is a fantastic, nationally recognised environmental consultancy looking to expand their London based ecology team with a new Senior Ecologist. You'll be at the forefront of sustainable, ecological solutions, pushing nature-positive developments and leading on an array of exciting and engaging projects around the UK. You'll be working with other like-minded environmentalists that work across various disciplines, exposing you different aspects of environmental sectors and broadening your horizons.

Responsibility:

As the new Senior Ecologist, your responsibilities will encompass lead, delivering and supporting on multiple ecological and biodiversity projects. You will be expected to carry out a range of ecological surveys and assessments such as PEAs, BNG, BREEAM Ecology Credit Reports and protected species surveys. You'll need to be able to utilise key software like QGIS and Biodiversity metrics to effectively map and track biodiversity net gain. Your botany skills will also be made use of as you will be undertaking and leading on UKHabs surveys, identifying flora at an equivalent to FISC level 3. Outside of field duties and reports, you'll be supporting the wider team with reports and proposals, training & mentoring junior staff and liaising with clients and stakeholders, attending meetings to obtain key information.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Senior Ecology Consultant position, you should aim to meet as much of the following criteria as possible:

  • Possess at least 4 years of experience in Ecological Consulting
  • Have a strong knowledge of Protected Species Surveys (particularly bats), PEAs, UKHabs, BREEAM and BNG assessments
  • Be familiar with Habitat Regulation Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments
  • Able to identify common floral species and categorise simple sites via UKHab criteria to a FISC level 3 standard
  • Possess at least 1 protected species license (Bat licenses are highly desirable)
  • Hold at least an Associate CIEEM membership and working towards full membership

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
