My client is a chartered surveyors, with an established reputation based in the South East of England, looking for a Quantity Surveyor/Employers Agent to be based in their offices in Brighton.

The Surveyor ideally should have completed an RICS accredited degree course leading to APC They will be carrying out all pre & post duties and predominantly providing Employers Agent/Quantity Surveying services on residential new build and refurbishment work schemes.

General Duties:

  • Diligent with attention to detail
  • Client facing so good personal presentation
  • Able to negotiate difficult situations to provide a good outcome
  • Organised and able to prioritise own workload
  • Calm under pressure
  • Be able to work under own initiative and also as part of a team
  • The role will require you to drive between sites so need to have access to own vehicle and a clean driving licence
  • Preparation of budget estimates, cost plans and cost checking procedures.
  • Tender return reviews and evaluations Assisting Associates and Partners as directed.
  • Preparation of Tender Reports and VFM statements.
  • Preparation of Contract Documents (JCT and bespoke Development Agreements) along with any associated supporting documentation.
  • Preparation of contract Instructions, Payment Notices and Certificates denoted by the relevant form of contract.
  • Preparation of Employers Requirements.
  • Preparation of tender documents
  • Inspect build works on site during construction as directed in liaison with the Site inspector.
  • Maintain financial summaries for each project as directed, prepare monthly cost and cash flow reports.
  • Liaise with Clients and Contractors and assist as necessary regarding defects that arise during defects liability periods.
  • Assist Principal Designers as directed in connection with Health & Safety Files. Assist in the handover of completed buildings including the coordination of all relevant documents, keys and meter readings.
  • Preparation of Final Accounts.


  • Relevant degree and working towards APC/RICS qualifications
  • Quantity Surveying background with a minimum of two years' experience
  • Proven experience working as an Employers Agent

The above is not an exhaustive list, the Quantity Surveyor/Employers Agent will be directed and supervised as necessary by a Partner.


  • The Project Surveyor will be allocated a suitable Supervisor / Counsellor to provide guidance to the individual for the completion of the APC Pathway.
  • The surveyor will be given suitable tasks and relevant project experience to support completion of mandatory and supplementary competencies along with access to CPD events and self-learning information.
