An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Field Ecologist to join the UK's largest ecological contracting organisation. If you have a protected species license (essential) and are educated to degree level in an environmental related discipline with good ecological survey experience, then we'd like to hear from you.

This role would suit a proactive Assistant or Graduate Ecologist with EPS licence looking to progress their career in ecology.

Role & Company:

As a Field Ecologist, you will assist in carrying out ecological surveys, including extended Phase 1 Habitat surveys. The majority of your work will focus on assisting with site-based surveys, therefore the ability to work ecology survey hours is essential. Experience of assisting with Bat and Reptile surveys would be particularly advantageous. You will be required to carry out some report writing, research and data analysis in this role.

You will be joining a leading UK Specialist Contractor, with an enviable client list across the Construction, Civil Infrastructure, Rail and Utilities industries. Based across three offices in Leicestershire, the Wirral and Dorset, my client has a truly nationwide capability. Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree and/or post-graduate qualification in a relevant ecology or biological sciences discipline
  • Possession of a Bat, GCN or other protected species licence (essential)
  • Demonstrable survey experience
  • A good understanding of key ecological survey methodologies for a wide range of fauna and flora with emphasison protected species and habitats
  • Ability to work site-based ecology survey hours (essential)
  • Proven field work and excellent report writing skills
  • Hold a full UK driving licence (essential)

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
