Opportunity:

Take this fantastic opportunity to join a Top 25 UK company as the newest Ecologist on their South England Ecology team! Our client is a major multidisciplinary firm who, due to an increase in project workload, are looking to bring in a new Ecologist to support the growing nature-positive initiatives being pushed. You'll be joining a large team of Ecologists and Environmentalists from a variety of disciplines, contributing to an array of engaging and significant developments across the UK. This client is committed to implementing crucial BNG practices across all its project sites with the hope of not only conserving the surrounding nature but enhancing it as a result. This Ecologist position is open to both their Surrey and London offices, but you'll also have the chance to travel around the country to contribute to high-profile developments.

Responsibility:

As the new Ecologist on the team, you'll be assisting with various key infrastructure projects, managing both the budgets and the programme for assigned projects. You'll also be collaborating internally with the multidisciplinary team and externally with key stakeholders, acting as a professional point of contact for clients. You'll be planning and executing your own field surveys, gathering data and producing subsequent reports, aiding with the design and implementation of ecological mitigation strategies and authoring license applications. Outside of technical work, there will also be opportunities to develop the Ecology team's work portfolio, managing both existing client relationships and forming new partnerships with target clients.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Ecologist position, you should aim to meet as much of the following criteria as possible:

  • 1-2 years of Ecological Consultant experience
  • Member of CIEEM - Client can cover Chartership costs
  • A degree in Ecology or related field e.g. Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Science
  • Strong botanical skills - FISC Certifications not necessary but highly desirable
  • Experience conducting UKHabs surveys, Habitat Condition Assessments (HCAs), using the DEFRA biodiversity metric and an understanding of BNG assessments is also highly desirable
  • Experience with all components of project management including financial and technical aspects
  • Experience producing a variety of reports such as PEAs, EcIAs, Biodiversity EIA Chapters or HRAs
  • Experience working on NSIPS is highly desirable
  • Protected Species licenses also highly desirable
  • A full, UK drivers license

Urban Land Institute.

In partnership with Urban Land Institute we are able to play an imperative role in creating a larger and more diverse pool of candidates within the planning & property professions. Working in schools we take part in the Urban Plan Educational workshops programme, which has now reached more than 2,500 pupils in 100 schools since its launch. Alongside more than 200 industry volunteers engaged across the country, we provide invaluable industry & careers advice to students while guiding them through their workshops and helping judge their presentations.
