Where did it all begin?
I went to University of West of Scotland to study journalism and media before moving to Australia for a year then back to Glasgow where I began my Recruitment career. I started off as a trainee consultant for 6 months and was then promoted to a consultant. An opportunity then came up at Mattinson Partnership and I jumped at the chance to join their Property Development/Civil Engineering recruitment team, because by this point I had about 3 years' experience under my belt.
What industries do you recruit for and what type of candidates are you looking for?
I have always worked within Engineering and, more recently, within the Property Development & Civil Engineering desk at Mattinson. This has allowed me to work with a lot more of the major companies in Glasgow and Northern England. I also have experience in working with smaller start-up companies all of which help to extend my network.
There is a lot of variety in the types of role I recruit for; I started off being solely focussed towards manufacturing engineering but progressed towards Civil Engineering & Property Developers when I joined Mattinson. I have to say the most recurring roles that I see coming up in Scotland are for Civil Engineers, CAD Technicians & other roles within the Property Development market such as Project Managers, Site Engineers, Quantity Surveyors & Architectural Technicians. I also like to focus on a lot of niche skill-sets, for example candidates who have Micro-drainage or PDS so if you have experience in any of these, give me a shout!
This is definitely the most competitive market I have worked within- large consultancies & house builders are really on the hunt for experienced candidates and everyone is getting snapped up very quickly. I don't like to limit myself to roles and would say I am relatively spread out. Although my area of expertise is between mid-senior roles I also really enjoy working on exciting roles within the graduate market.
No matter what industry I cover, I think the most important aspect of my job is a having a strong relationship with my clients and candidates. This allows me to always be learning about my industry from numerous professionals on every level and across a range of organisations; from Director level CEO's to aspiring recent graduates. This aerial view point reveals invalue market trends which enable me to offer current and consultative advice to all my candidates and clients.
Typical roles I recruit for:
- Civil Infrastructure Engineers
- Structural Engineers
- CAD Technicians
- Quantity Surveyors
- Site Managers
- Project Managers
- Land Managers
- Architectural Technicians
- Senior Management Roles
Specific Skillsets I'm looking for:
- Infrastructure Design

I joined the Glasgow office as a consultant in April 2018. Prior to recruitment, I completed my Media & Journalism degree at The University of the West of Scotland. When I’m not working you will most likely find me out with friends socialising, taking my beloved Labrador for walks, going to gigs & most importantly enjoying a nice prosecco!
