The position encompasses a leading role in the delivery of projects within the Operations Consulting business sector of the company. Projects will either be standalone consultancy assignments or part of a wider service offering provided by the company.

In addition to leading projects from a quality, commercial and programme perspective, the role also incorporates significant involvement in the delivery of technical aspects of projects. This will typically include the development of concept designs and specifications for automated materials handling systems.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Responsible for delivering projects to an agreed budget and programme
Meetings with Customers to understand and determine their business requirements
Production of Design Briefs, Process Maps and User Requirements Specifications for automated materials handling systems
Development of concept designs and system layouts in response to Customer requirements
Working with both internal and external business partners (architects, planners) to ensure that concept designs form part of an overall integrated approach – as an example this will be a baggage handling system within an airport terminal
Engagement with Customers to demonstrate how the concept designs will address their business requirements
Maintaining a knowledge of technology within the automated materials handling market place to ensure that concept designs are at the leading edge
Ensuring that concept designs address the key requirements of safety and sustainability
Act as concept guardian for Customers during the delivery phase of projects

Key Skills / Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
Minimum 5 years experience of producing concept designs for automated materials handling systems.
Working knowledge of airport baggage handling systems
Flexibility to be both a team leader and player when required
Demonstration of successful involvement in customer facing projects
Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio
Able to use CAD as a means of reviewing layout drawings
To be commercially aware, demonstrate strong planning / organisational skills
